About us

Hi welcome, we are Ika and Lukas an Indonesian-German couple currently living in Bali. Our blog is all about travel – we want to show you the world through our eyes, giving you an authentic and honest view of the places we visit. We love exploring new cultures and sharing our differences; after all, that’s what makes life so interesting! Our slogan “jalan jalan” is Indonesian for “being on the road” – which is what we love and look forward to. Our posts will be full of photos, videos and experiences from our travels – so make sure to follow us on our adventure!

Ika

Hi Ika here, I was born in Sumatra. Growing up, I didn’t have access to electricity or public transportation, but that didn’t stop me from dreaming big. Now, I work remotely and travel as much as I can to explore new places and cultures. I love the thrill of being on the road, the excitement of discovering new destinations and the joy of meeting new people. Traveling has opened my eyes to the diversity of our world and has taught me valuable lessons about life. I'm all about sharing the sunny vibes and positive outlook that's helped me so much in my journey. I truly believe in grabbing life by the horns and making every second count. Thanks for stopping by and sharing this ride with me. Big virtual hugs to you! 💖

Lukas

Hey there! I’m Lukas, a 29-year-old German travel enthusiast who traded in bratwurst and pretzels for spicy street food and tropical fruits. I’m currently living in Indonesia, embracing the digital nomad life and soaking up the sun while exploring every hidden gem this beautiful country has to offer. When I’m not busy navigating narrow streets on my trusty scooter, I’m sharing my quirky adventures and travel tips with my partner in crime, Ika, on our blog. Together, we uncover the fascinating contrasts between our cultures, and let me tell you, life in Asia has definitely spiced up my world! So come join us on our exciting journey as we dive into the wonderfully diverse world of our jalan jalan!

Mila

On a beautiful day in November 2022, our vacation to Nusa Penida Island, took an unexpected turn when we found a puppy all alone near the road. Our hearts broke as she was so sick and every fiber of us wanted to just adopt her! Since that moment, it’s been such a rewarding journey getting this pup back into good health. Sadly though animal abandonment is something seen frequently throughout Indonesia – but with love & care maybe one at least can be made well again!
