Rent a Scooter

Scooters in general are quite expensive in the Philippines around $26 per day! This cost might seem high compared with Indonesia – but nowhere else will give such great access for adventure seekers on two wheels.

Hire a Tricycle

For an easy and cost-efficient way to get around El Nido, look no further than a tricycle! We found that the prices for these rides were quite reasonable. While traveling from the airport to one of El Nido’s beaches recently, we only had to pay 300 pesos – a great value considering how hilly it can be in this beautiful destination. And don’t worry about engine noise either; even though they are not electric like those on Boracay Island, you’ll still enjoy the ride.

2. El Nido Airport

Is a small domestic airport located in the town of El Nido, Palawan in the Philippines. It is operated by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) and serves as the main gateway to El Nido and the surrounding areas. The airport is situated near the coast and offers stunning views of the sea and the nearby islands.

The Airport has a single runway, which is 1,200 meters long and 30 meters wide, and can accommodate small aircraft such as ATR 72.

3. Plane spotting in El Nido & The Best Time to Visit

The best time to go airplane spotting at Lio Beach is in the morning or late afternoon when the light is at its best and the planes are most active. You can check the Airplane tracker such as flighradar24 or FlightAware to see incoming schedules. Lukas tried to get close to the runway but was pushed back by security guards. Basically, you cannot go left from the peer to get a closer look to the airplanes.

As it is a very small airport with a short runway, you will mostly see ATR 72s or private airplanes flying into El Nido Airport. These smaller airplanes can handle the short runway compared to other airplanes like the A320 or B737. The only commercial airline flying into El Nido is AirSwift.
