Visiting the Blue Lagoon won’t empty your pockets! While we took a scooter ride from Canggu, the only expense we encountered was a modest parking fee of 2000 IDR. Furthermore, the beach access is completely free. So, if you’re strolling in from PadangBai, there should be no charges to worry about.

An honest review? Absolutely! Particularly during our second visit, when the tides were in our favor. However, it’s worth noting that the tides at Blue Lagoon can be somewhat strong, even though the waters remain crystal clear. With a rich variety of marine life and excellent visibility, it truly is a snorkeler’s spot. Trust us, you’ll cherish every moment, from the tip of your toes to the edge of your goggles!
What marine life can you see at Blue Lagoon Beach?
Just a few meters from the shore, you’ll be greeted by a burst of colorful fish. As you venture further out, the water becomes even clearer, showing bright coral formations. But always show respect to our underwater friends – remember, it’s best to look and not touch!
Do I need a boat to snorkel at Blue Lagoon?
Actually, you’re not required to. While there are numerous offers around the Padangbai area, often combined with another spot like Tanjung Jepun, we never felt the need. Instead, we simply started our snorkeling adventure directly from the beach.
Is it safe to snorkel in Blue Lagoon for beginners?
While the tides might get a bit rough, the water isn’t too deep, making it feel safer. Being a beginner swimmer, I understand my boundaries. Gradually, as my confidence grew, I felt no need for a safety jacket. However, if you prefer one, there are two restaurants in front of the Blue Lagoon where you can rent them. Remember, it’s always good to know your limits and perhaps have a friend accompany you.
Are there any snorkeling tour packages for Blue Lagoon Beach?
Certainly! Numerous local operators provide “Bali snorkeling blue lagoon” packages. You can either explore these options online or directly on-site. Typically, these packages come with gear rental, lunch, and sometimes guided tours. Before snorkeling in, take some time to research and find a package that aligns with your preferences and budget. What’s the best time of year to snorkel at Blue Lagoon in Bali?
Ideally, the months between April and October, which are the dry season, are the best times to visit. We dropped by in June and September, enjoying clear skies and clear waters. Interestingly, during our second visit, the water felt a tad cooler. Still, snorkeling at Blue Lagoon remains a favorite activity throughout the year. Just a heads up: the visibility can drop, and the tides might turn quite challenging and trashy :(
Are there any facilities or amenities available at Blue Lagoon Beach?
Absolutely, the Blue Lagoon has all the amenities you’d need. Right in front of the beach, two restaurants offer restrooms, food options, equipment rentals, seating areas and massage :D. It’s perfect for spending the entire day. On that note, don’t forget to bring along sunscreen and perhaps a hat; the Balinese sun tends to get pretty intense.
Do I need to bring my own snorkeling gear to Blue Lagoon or can I rent it there?
Both options work! We carried our own gear, but rental shops are available with all the essentials for your snorkeling journey. For instance, we only rented fins and it set us back just 50,000 IDR for the two of us. However, always double-check that the equipment is in top shape to ensure a safe experience.

Interestingly, while other locations are undeniably gorgeous, snorkeling at Blue Lagoon turned out to be the most affordable and nearest to our stay, eliminating the need for a boat ride.
