The phenomenon is a result of the sardines’ migration patterns, as they move from one place to another in search of food and safety.
This natural marvel is a treat for all the senses, as the shimmering schools of sardines create a visual feast, while the sound of the water breaking against the shore adds to the overall experience. The Sardine Run is also a favorite spot for snorkelers and divers, as they can witness this amazing event up close and personal.
2. When Should I Visit?
The Sardine Run typically occurs from December to June, with peak season being in the months of February and March. If you’re looking for a spectacular snorkeling adventure and the stars have aligned to give you no sun, head over to Sardine Run early in the morning! Trust us on this – we experienced an unprecedented level of clarity when it comes to water visibility at 7.30am and calmer current than what was present later in the day. So don’t miss out; be sure pack your gear and hit up!
